1. See the Lights

2. Watch a Play

MTYP presents a Year with Frog and Toad from December 6 -29.  A musical holiday adventure for the entire family.

3. Listen to the Music

Experience the enchantment of Candlelight concerts, where live music meets a multi-sensory journey in breathtaking venues like never before in Winnipeg. Secure your tickets now to enjoy melodies inspired by winter and the holiday season at the Crescent Arts Centre, all illuminated by the warm glow of candlelight.

4. Wear Your Ugly Christmas Sweater

The Velvet Glove Restaurant features contemporary Manitoban cuisine crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.  Join us on December 26 for the Ugly Sweater Festive Brunch.

5. Discover the Stars

The Manitoba Museum presents DOME@HOME, a free weekly virtual series inviting Manitobans to explore the wonders of the universe.  Join Planetarium Astronomer Scott Young on Thursdays at 7 PM to identify constellations and planets, uncover upcoming celestial events, and dive into the latest in space science and astronomy.  As pioneering Canadian astronomer Helen Sawyer Hogg famously said, “The stars belong to everyone.”

6. Get Nostalgic

The Children’s Museum proudly hosts the last remaining original Eaton’s Fairytale Vignettes Display, once featured in the ninth-floor annex of the Eaton’s downtown store. Fully restored, this cherished tradition is open to the public for a limited time only. From mid-November to mid-January, visitors of all ages can marvel at 15 enchanting fairytale vignettes, including beloved favorites like Cinderella, Humpty Dumpty, Three Blind Mice, and more!

7. Explore the Exchange District After Dark

On the first Friday of every month, Winnipeg’s Exchange District comes alive as galleries, artist-run centers, studios, shops, and museums stay open late for a free community event.

8. Learn About Nature and the Environment

Discover Birdsong & Boughs: A Holiday Migration at The Leaf, a festive display celebrating the season and the rhythms of nature. Explore vibrant holiday boughs, bird-friendly plants, colorful birdhouses, and whimsical elements like a swan mosaic and oversized eggs, all highlighting conservation and sustainability. Journey through the Tropical Biome and Display House to learn about migrating birds and be inspired to protect the environment year-round.

9. Explore the Great Outdoors

  • Embark on an unforgettable dogsledding adventure in southern Manitoba! Just 30 minutes east of Winnipeg, our small business celebrates the remarkable spirit of our dogs and the rich history of dogsledding in Canada.  Reserve your experience today and feel the thrill of mushing firsthand!
  • Located just 15 minutes from downtown Winnipeg, Springhill Winter Sports Park offers skiing, snowboarding, a tube park, rentals, and professional lessons. With 150 vertical feet, four lifts, Manitoba’s top terrain park, and 100% snowmaking, it’s the perfect destination for winter fun, complete with first aid services, a kitchen, and a licensed sports bar.
  • Winter is here, and Asessippi is ready to welcome you! We’re tentatively kicking off our 26th season on Friday, December 13, so it’s time to dust off your skis and snowboards. Located on Provincial Trunk Highway 83, just four hours from Winnipeg, your winter adventure awaits!
  • The Windsor Park Nordic Centre, operated by the Cross Country Ski Association of Manitoba since 2000, is a not-for-profit facility dedicated to maintaining and enhancing Winnipeg’s cross-country skiing experience. Trail fees support grooming, maintenance, and amenities, ensuring this historic urban green space remains a cherished destination for winter enthusiasts.

10. Perform a Good Deed

  • For over 100 years, the Christmas Cheer Board has upheld a tradition of giving, providing food, toys, and holiday cheer to those in need. This non-denominational, community-driven organization supports families of all cultures and beliefs.
  • his holiday season, we’re building another Toy Mountain to bring joy to kids and families in our community! Help make every child’s holiday special by ensuring they have a gift to unwrap. Toy donations are now being accepted at Scotiabank, Toys R Us, and select Winnipeg Fire Department locations.
  • Since its founding in 1985, Harvest Manitoba has grown from serving Winnipeg to becoming Canada’s fourth-largest food distributor and Manitoba’s only provincial food network. Each year, thanks to community support, Harvest collects 13 million pounds of food, feeding over 100,000 Manitobans monthly through Harvest Hampers and the efforts of dedicated volunteers.
  • Agape Table provides nutritious bagged breakfasts, including soup, sandwiches, pastries, fruit, and drinks, to individuals in need, welcoming everyone without judgment. Serving a diverse community—from the homeless to low-income families and seniors—Agape is dedicated to nourishing the body, mind, and spirit with unconditional love and support.
