It seems as if spring is beginning to put in an appearance which puts us in mind of warm weather and being outside. It also starts people thinking about summer and planning their vacations. Vacation time, although a much needed break from work to rejuvenate the spirit, can also be a time of stress to an employer as the work still needs to get done. Then, on top of that, we are now facing the roll out of HST. Regions that have introduced a value-added tax (like the HST) see increases in productivity and investments. This means more work for updating and implementing the systems to accommodate for HST, and also an increase to the work being done in your accounting department. With the Olympics having passed through British Columbia, there is a stronger momentum in the province which is expected to continue into 2011!! According to a report in CNW from RBC, “the province’s growth forecast is set to remain steady at 3.4 per cent. There has been a boost to tourism, retail trade and a wide variety of other services thanks to the Olympics. This will help speed up an emerging economic recovery in the province.”
